Unless it's the world's best kept secret, I'm sure the ride up the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island has been done by thousands of cyclists before us because it's a natural route for a bike tour. The roads are good, the traffic (even in summer) is reasonable, accommodations are spaced at easy distances apart, and the scenery is lovely. Add in a few ferry rides to break-up the pedalling and you've got a near perfect bike tour.

The contrasts between this route and our last trip (through the Tetons, Yellowstone, and Wind River Valley in Wyoming) are almost too numerous to mention. The most obvious difference though, is that Wyoming really made us work for its rewards and the British Columbia coast just offered them up for the taking. Next
